Treat yourself to a weekend in the Moroccan fairytale.
As you may know, Morocco is a North African country located just across the Strait of Gibraltar from Gibraltar, with a West coast on the North Atlantic Ocean and a North coast on the Mediterranean Sea.
Morocco’s bustling spice markets, stunning mosques, whitewashed seaside towns and medieval city centers will no doubt overwhelm you with the amazing colors, smells and sounds of Islamic Africa. Its culture and ancient cities bring over 10 million visitors a year to Morocco and for sure it won’t make you indifferent.
If you are going to Tangier from Gibraltar and you want just a private guide that will show Morocco’s beauty in your rhythm we recommend you tangier-private-guide.com (where you can also book tours to other cities of this country). The old city of Tangier is renowned for its Moorish architecture, white-stone traditional houses and its historic citadel (Kasbah) housing the former Sultan’s Palace and the Museum of Antiquities.
Day Tours:
Numerous tour operators offer day trips from Spain to Morocco. Although specifics vary between tour companies, a typical day trip includes bus service to and from the ferry port, round-trip ferry service, a walking tour, some sort of show or exhibition and lunch in Morocco. If your time is very limited, this can provide a brief overview, but travel experts warn that you will not fully experience Moroccan culture. If you can spare the time, spending three or four days in Morocco on your own will provide a richer experience.
Directions: Once a week departure from Gibraltar to Tangiers Med (Morocco) is available through the ferry company, FRS (book your ticket www.frs.es/en). The crossing departs from Gibraltar on Friday evening and departs from Tangier Med on Monday evening. The crossing takes roughly 80 minutes with the ferry.
